#imbringingbirthdaysback Card Buffet (Part Two)

As I mentioned yesterday, I was going to share more of the creations that were made at my recent #imbringingbirthdaysback card buffet.

This card was inspired due to my wanting spring to come…and STAY! This weekend’s weather changed every five to ten minutes. I want warmth and sunshine to stick around a lot longer than that!

Ice Cream Social

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM! YUMMY….

LOVE the dainty-ness of this Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper (140557) from our Occasions Catalog. This along with the fragility of the Helping Me Grow (140764) flowers makes me wish for warmer weather as well. This card could be used as a lovely Mother’s Day card by changing up the sentiment.

Honeysuckle

One of Stampin’ Up!’s mottos is to CASE (Copy And Share Everything). The card above is one that I cased  from my 2nd up-line, Kelly. This card also utilizes the flowers from the stamp set Helping Me Grow (140764).

The simpleness of the sentiment of this “Just for You” card gives you a myriad of ways that this card could be used. It could be used as a birthday card, shower card, or even a wedding card.

The last card that my friends could choose to make was this fun beer mug. So many of my friends and family could get this card…SO APPROPRIATE! I LOVE the sentiment of “You look way better at this age than I thought you would!”. I think I know exactly who will be getting this card next, Curly! hehehehehehehe

My next card buffet is scheduled for Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UW Oshkosh in Sage Hall, Room 3206. You can choose six cards to make for $15.

Let me know if you have specific cards that you are in need of (i.e. birthday, wedding, anniversary, sympathy).

RSVP by Thursday, April 28 so I am sure to have enough materials cut and ready for you to create!

Hope to see you on April 30!

#imbringingbirthdaysback Card Buffet

We had great fun creating birthday cards a few weeks ago. I had a sassy group of women join me in an effort to jump on the viral bandwagon of #imbringingbirthdaysback!

Here is the fun stamp (143573) that you can purchase to stamp your envelopes, etc.

Here are some of our creations from that event.

LOVE this pappa bear that has been fishing (139546) and he’s taking his catch home. “Wishing you a day full of sunshine and a lake full of fish — Happy Birthday”. If my dad were still with us, he would DEFINITELY be getting this card!

Worlds Greatest Guy          Worlds Greatest Guy Inside

I wound up embossing this bear with the Stampin’ Emboss Powder in Early Espresso. The “World’s Greatest Guy” is stamped using the Tuxedo Black Momento Ink. LOVE this ink and use it often!

Our next card to be showcased is my personal favorite stamp from Sale-A-Bration — “Put Your Party Pants On”. This time, I made some ADORABLE britches using the Punch Label Washi (138296). I added some washi tape to the tops of the pants and stamped the inside with a simple “happy birthday” greeting. Fun, fun, FUN!!!

Put Your Party Pants On 2     Put Your Party Pants On 2 Inside

This card came back into the rotation–but I did get a better picture of it than what I had posted before. I LOVE the contrast with the black, grey, red foil and silver glimmer tape that was my second favorite Sale-A-Bration freebie!

Put Your Party Pants On

I LOVE the Balloon Celebration Photopolymer Stamp Set (140675) that coordinates with our Balloon Bouquet Punch (140609).

Put Your Party Pants On Inside

My next card just screams spring to me. I used the Big Shot Honeycomb (129378) for the background to make it look like chicken wire. I just inked up the raised edge of the embossing folder and closed it and just transferred the ink while running on the folder. SO CUTE!!

Happy Birthday Chick

The inside was plain, with the exception of the washi tape that I used on the very left-most edge. I thought that it looked like chicken feet and thought it added to the card. What do you think?

Next card buffet is scheduled for Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UW Oshkosh in Sage Hall, Room 3206. You can choose six cards to make for $15.

RSVP by Thursday, April 28 so I am sure to have enough materials cut and ready for you to create!

Hope to see you on April 30!

Inquiring minds want to know…

Where do you get your ideas for your cards? This is a question that I get quite often.

One of the greatest ways to get ideas is by attending our monthly team meeting. This is where demos bring ideas to share by demonstrating a certain technique,

Cindy Demo Bubbles Cindy Demo Bubbles 2 Cindy Demo Bubbles 3

…our up-line creates make ‘n takes for us to create at our meetings, and

Happy 29th Birthday     Happy 29th Birthday 2

Just Married           Just Married 2

demos bring various cards and projects that they have been working on since the last meeting.

A great way for customers to learn new techniques and create beautiful cards is by attending a card buffet. My next card buffet will be held on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. I would LOVE to have you attend.

Stampin’ Up! manages a blog that demos and customers can follow to learn different techniques as well. Stampin’ Up! also utilizes YouTube to bring creativity to life.

When doing dishes one night, the realization hit that if I could blow bubbles and have it make a cool design on a platter that I had hand-painted, I could do the same with paper.

Platter

Simply combine bubble-blowing solution with Stampin’ Up! ink, take a straw and gently blow bubbles onto your paper. Let the bubbles pop gradually to create your design. Allow the paper to completely dry before stamping. Here are cards that were created utilizing this bubble-blowing technique.

As a team, we get together for an annual Christmas party. We have exchanged gift tags, gift card holders and thank you notes in the past as our swap. Also, if you wish to participate in a gift exchange, the rule that you must follow is the item must utilize Stampin’ Up! products. Below you will see a gift card holder and a number of gifts that were exchanged at such an event. It is always wonderful to see the awesome creativity exhibited.

Lastly, a great resource for getting ideas is to search on Pinterest. The search feature is great and really easy to use. All you need to do is type in the name of a particular Stampin’ Up! stamp set and you are inundated with dozens of ideas for cards and projects to make. You can also search for ideas of some of your favorite things, such as Stampin’ Up! Hello Kitty. Pinterest will give you great ideas for these items as well.

If interested in learning techniques and creating six cards for $15, please come to my card buffet. Leave a note in the comments section below if you wish to attend so I can send you my address and have enough products ready for the event.

Layers, layers, LaYeRS…

In life, we manage many different layers. We layer our clothes, our hair and some people have emotional layers within their personalities. You can also create layers like this — YUMMO!

When creating cards, layers add depth to your creations. Layers can be added in multiple ways.

The card below shows how you can layer ink to make a card pop. Painter’s tape was used to add ink to card stock. To top those layers off, Momento Ink was added providing richness to the card.

Painter's Tape Card

This next creation has multiple layers of ink along with layering and embossing to give the card further dimension.

Birthday layered inkLayers can be accentuated by adding patterned paper or colored card stock.

Birthday Layered Paper

Two key items to have on hand when creating cards with multiple layers is a Stampin’ Up! Trimmer and an incremental paper sizing chart (see below). The paper trimmer offers not only a cutting blade, but a scoring tool as well. Scoring allows you to easily make folds on your cards.

Paper Cutting Increments

5 ½ x 4 ¼                     4 ¼ x 3

5 ¼ x 4                          4 x 2 ¾

5 x 3 ¾                          3 ¾ x 2 ½

4 ¾ x 3 ½                     3 ½ x 2 ¼

4 ½ x 3 ¼                     3 ¼ x 2

This chart came in very handy when making this next card that has a total of six layers. A standard card base measures 5 ½ x 4 ¼. From there, ¼” was removed from both the height and width of each layer.

Incremental Layering

Once all layers were cut, the white card stock was separated, centered and lightly adhered. Multiple floral stamps were made across the three different layers. The layers were carefully removed and the coastal cabana paper was intermingled with the winter white once again. A splash of ribbon was added making this a quick and cute card–easy to make and adorable!

Incremental Layered Card Completed

WARNING! When putting this card together, you MUST be very careful to make sure that your stamped layers stay facing the same way and that the layers don’t get mixed up with others you may be producing. If you are not careful, you end up with a card like this (see the innermost white layer of the back card–the flowers do not match up).

Incremental Layered Card Ooops

The last card featured utilizes SU Silver Glimmer Paper for added sparkle. The Labels Collection Framelits were used to create the layers of this card.

Layer with shimmer

These cards will be featured at my Card Buffet on Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at my home. You get to choose six cards to make for $15. Leave a note in the comments section if you are interested in attending.
