Spring?!?!?!

So, is spring ever going to get here? Will we ever have more than one day of warm weather?!?!?

WHO IS TIRED OF THE COLD???

Tired of Cold

I recall a few years back that it snowed on May 10 (the day after my dad’s birthday). At the time he stated that it had been a LOOOOOOOONG time since it snowed the day after his birthday. I don’t EVER recall it snowing as late as May 15. We had flurries this past Saturday….and that was too much for me!

So, in an effort to force spring to come, I woke up this morning and created this little gem. Doesn’t it just SCREAM spring?!?!?

Spring Floral Thank You Single EDITED

I LOVE the little splashes of color on the background of the card and the colorful flowers just tie it all together.

Spring Floral Side by Side EDITED

You can put down as many splatters as you want — no two cards are alike!

Spring Floral Flat EDITED

I added a little sparkle by adding our rhinestones to the middle of the flowers.

~sigh~ I am happy now with my little SPLASH of spring!

You can choose to make this card (and more) at my card buffet on Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UW Oshkosh in Sage Hall, Room 3206. You can choose six cards to make for $15.

Let me know if you have specific cards that you are in need of (i.e. birthday, wedding, anniversary, sympathy).

RSVP by Thursday, May 19 so I am sure to have enough materials cut and ready for you to create!

Hope to see you on May 21! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mother’s Day — Part II

Here is the second Mother’s Day card that we made at my last card buffet. I LOVE this one…it kind of has that “Shabby Chic” feel to it!

World's Best Mother

The card base is made using CRUMB CAKE (11 x 4 ¼ scored at 5 ½). The next layer is our WHISPER WHITE (5 ¼ x 4).

CRUMB CAKE ink was used with the various stamps in the TIMELESS TEXTURES Stamp Set. One of the rectangular stamps was used first by stamping a border all the way around the whisper white paper. Then other stamps from this set were used to fill in the middle. Lastly, I grabbed some TIP TOP TAUPE and added some splashes to the bottom left and top right corner. You can add as little or as much filler as you desire.

Next, one of the TEA LACE PAPER DOILIES was cut in half and adhered to the top layer of the card. The edge of that was covered using SAHARA SAND LACE TRIM** and tucked behind and secured with scotch tape to the top layer prior to adhering it to the card base.

The A NICE CUPPA PHOTOPOLYMER** Stamp Set was used for the sentiment. The tea cup was cut out using the BIG SHOT and the framelit dies (were on the “retired” list and are no longer available). The rectangular stamp that was used to make the border around the white card layer was used on the sides, top and bottom of the teacup to finish the look. The sentiment was stamped in CRUMB CAKE INK as well.

Last but not least, I made the little banner for the upper left-hand corner and secured one of our BOTANICAL GARDEN JEWELS with a GLUE DOT to give it some “bling”.

NOTE: Items that have ** behind them are on the “retired” listing. Items on the retired list are going fast so if you are interested, you might wish to order them soon! See the retired list here for what is still available!

So, which card do you like better? The one that I posted yesterday or the card above? Inquiring minds want to know–so make sure you leave a comment!

You can order the items above (AND MORE) from my store by clicking ORDER HERE or by clicking on the image below.

I bring all of the ideas and the supplies, all you have to do it put them all together. I will be HAPPY to help you with tips and tricks of the trade (i.e. there are two sides of paper for a reason!).

Happy Mother’s Day — Part I

At last week’s card buffet, I made a couple of Mom’s Day cards since it is coming up this weekend (Sunday, May 8). They were so much fun and GORGEOUS (if I do say so myself)!

Mother's Day

This card uses Blushing Bride Cardstock and Ink.

The First Sight Stamp set added the pop of color to the card base.

Next, the Big Shot was used to cut out the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies (along with two cut-outs of the smaller flowers). After the heart was cut out, I laid the Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies on top of the Bloomin’ Heart cut-out and ran it through the Big Shot again. Don’t forget to cut the Bold Butterfly Framlits Dies from a separate piece of Blushing Bride cardstock to adhere the dainty heart/butterfly cut-out onto. So pretty!!!

Since the butterfly cut-out is so dainty, the Fine-Tip Glue Pen was used to put it all together after I lightly sponged Blushing Bride ink over the butterfly cut-out.

The smaller flowers were adhered to the butterfly shape using glue dots. Then a rhinestone basic jewel was applied to the center of each flower to give the card a little bit of bling.

Make sure you use our pokey tool (alright, the real name is paper piercing tool–but I like pokey tool better!) so that you don’t leave the adhesive behind on the paper while removing the rhinestone.

The sentiment inside the card is from the First Sight stamp set. It, too, was stamped in blushing bride ink, “I have loved you mother since I opened my eyes”. I had a picture of the inside of the card….but can’t seem to find it…ooops!

I have loved you mother...

I will post the other Mother’s Day card that we made on my tomorrow and you can let me know which was your favorite!

My next card buffet is scheduled for Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UW Oshkosh in Sage Hall, Room 3206. You can choose six cards to make for $15.

Piece by Piece…

Patchwork cards, like patchwork quilts, have so many different patterns and gorgeous colors in them. You can get lost in the creations.

Where to start…where to start….where to start?!?!?!

That is how I first felt when putting this card together. Where do you start putting your strips of paper down? Well, my suggestion is to jump right in and it will come together for you!

Forever Friend

I have seen many patchwork cards on Pinterest and I thought they were SO BEAUTIFUL. And one look at this card, I hope you will agree!

I started with a Crumb Cake card base that measured 4 ¼ x 11 inches long, scored at 5 /5 inches. The next layer is Bermuda Bay paper that I have cut at 4 x 5 inches, the Whisper White layer that the strips of paper are adhered to measures 3 ½ x 4 ½ inches. The last piece of paper that “Forever Friends” is stamped on (in Melon Mambo ink) is 1 by 3 ½ x 1 inch wide.

Bermuda BayWhisper White

I chose the “Have a Cuppa” Designer Series Paper Stack — #140567 (which is on the retired list–hurry things are going fast!). This is a 6 x 6 inch pack of GORGEOUS papers. I chose patterns that I loved and started cutting. Each strip is ½” wide x 6 inches long and you start laying them down. I left just a smidge bit of space between each strip of paper.

I used my silicone mat while putting the adhesive on since I did not want EVERYTHING sticking to my work surface.  LOVE this mat and us it ALL. THE. TIME.

Once I laid down all of the strips of paper onto my Whisper White layer, I then trimmed all of the pieces of strips that were hanging over my edges.
