Spring Has Sprung?!?!

Row 1 Spring

Oftentimes, I ask myself, “Why in the world do you live in Wisconsin?” Between the long winters, the BRUTAL cold temperatures of late and fighting a horrendous cold for a week, I am SOOOOOO ready for spring!

Row 2 Spring

Many people look to Punxsutawney Phil every Feb. 2 to predict the coming of spring. Some look to a date on a calendar. Others look to the sighting of their first robin to declare the first day of spring. The opening of two drive-ins is my sign that spring is coming. Ardy and Ed’s Drive In opened for their 67th season on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, and, rumor has it that The Well Drive-In will be opening this weekend.

Row 3 Spring

Maybe I can pretend it is spring?

I LOVE this stamp set. The three-step Lotus Blossom photopolymer stamp set allows you to see through the stamps so that you can easily line everything up. The daffodil delight ribbon just makes this card scream spring.

Here is another card using the same stamp set. Behind the flower is Irresistibly Yours Designer Paper from our Sale-A-Bration catalog. This paper is free with a $50 purchase until March 31, 2015. The flower is tied off with matching ruffled ribbon. It felt as if the card above was missing something. Enhancing it with a piece of wysteria wonder cardstock makes it pop more, don’t you think?

While playing with different ideas, this cool card came to mind. Awesome…until I realized that I did not have an envelope that fit. I grabbed my Envelope Punch Board and easily made my own. How cool is that?

Again, this card kind of fizzled for me. Adding some “pizzaz” was in order.

Making cards is about trial and error as these last two cards show. Isn’t it amazing what a piece of paper or a little embossing, dimensionals and ribbon does to bring your project to the next level? My rule of thumb is to just keep playing with your creations until they are “picture perfect”.

Welcome to Stamp ‘n Sass!

Welcome to my blog, Stamp ‘n Sass! This is a happy day for me as a new blogger.

Blogging is something I have wanted to learn about for years and was never adventurous enough to jump into it. So, today is my lucky day. WOO HOO!!

Given that today is lucky for me, and the next celebration for the year is St. Patty’s Day, here are a few creations that were put together for a stamping class at my good friend Mary’s home.

This is a cute ‘n quick card that we will be making celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Mary LOVES butterflies, so I always try and include a couple of cards featuring these lovely creatures.

Clover to Butterfly Card

This card is a bit more complex. It features a technique called bokeh. This is a photography effect that is an out-of-focus blur in a photograph. Bokeh

No gathering would be complete without a little goody for allowing me to share my talents and teach card making techniques. Care for a three-leaf clover?

Clover Kisses
What will you be doing to celebrate the Luck o’ the Irish? Corned beef and cabbage anyone? A visit to Dublin’s in Oshkosh, WI is in order for this ole girl. A little green beer? As green as the Chicago River perhaps?

An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Whatever you do, have a little fun and share in the comments how you will celebrate St. Patty’s day.
